Periodontal Services

Periodontics is the dental specialty focused on the health of your gums and the bone structure supporting your teeth.

Patients with periodontal disease may experience a variety of symptoms, including:

Bleeding gums, Tartar buildup, Severe tooth mobility,

Missing teeth, Purulent discharge (pus) and Chronic bad breath

Periodontal treatments are aimed at rehabilitating gingivitis, a chronic inflammatory condition that damages the gums and other supporting structures of the teeth.

Your Treatment Journey

Your initial appointment will involve a comprehensive clinical examination, including a periodontal probe, photographs, and an explanation of proper brushing techniques. Following this, we will begin the hygiene phase. For advanced cases, this phase may require scaling and root planing, also known as a "deep cleaning," to remove tartar and bacteria from below the gumline.

For severe gum problems, a surgical approach called "open curettage" may be necessary to eliminate deep-seated disease within periodontal pockets. Following this surgical phase, a strict hygiene regimen is essential for maintaining your oral health.

Additional Services

Our periodontists also specialize in a variety of other procedures, including:

⟡ Aesthetic Gum Contouring: Reshaping the gum line to improve a "gummy smile."

⟡ Connective Tissue Grafting: A gum graft to treat gingival recession and associated tooth sensitivity.

⟡ Dental Implants: Placement of implants to replace missing teeth.

⟡ Bone Grafting: A procedure to build bone density for future implant placement.

⟡ Tissue Regeneration: Bone grafting to restore bone around affected teeth.

⟡ Surgical Extractions: Removal of third molars (wisdom teeth) or multiple teeth in preparation for dentures.

Since every patient's oral condition is unique, treatment timelines can vary. It is crucial to complete all diagnostic procedures during your first appointment to create a personalized treatment plan and begin the necessary hygienic phase before any further treatment.

Orthodontic Treatments

Orthodontic treatment involves moving or straightening teeth to improve their appearance and function. The duration of treatment varies, typically lasting 8 to 24 months, and depends on the complexity of your bite and how consistently you attend your appointments. Factors that may extend treatment time include:

The need for tooth extractions, Damaged or detached braces or

the misuse of prescribed orthodontic devices, such as rubber bands.

Your Treatment Journey

To begin, we need to perform a full orthodontic study. This study includes X-rays, photographs, and dental models that allow our specialist to create a personalized treatment plan for you.

At your next appointment, your orthodontist will discuss the treatment plan and answer any questions you may have. If you're ready to move forward, we can place your braces and begin treatment during this visit.

Adjustment appointments are necessary every four to six weeks. These visits allow your doctor to monitor your progress and make changes to the wires and other components. After your treatment is complete, you must wear a retainer to keep your teeth from shifting back to their original position. Teeth have a natural "memory," so retainers are crucial for maintaining your new smile. We offer both fixed and removable retainers.

Types of Braces

⟡ Metal Braces: These are durable and effective. They come in both silver and gold, with the gold option

offering a "jewelry-like" look.

⟡ Ceramic Braces: Made from a composite material, these are more discreet and generally do not stain.

It's important to remember that all braces, regardless of material, can break if you eat hard or chewy foods. During the first few days of treatment, you may also experience some discomfort in your teeth, gums, cheeks, and tongue as your mouth adjusts.
